Stark RFID installs customized Event Management Solution (StarkEM) at the PGA Tour's 2011 Northern Trust Open
Installation follows successful pilot program
at 2010 Tour Championship
(Greenville, SC—February 24, 2011) --- Stark RFID, an integrator and converter offering customized RFID solutions to leading organizations in multiple markets, has turned a pilot program featuring its Stark EM software at the 2010 Tour Championship into an event management solution at the PGA’s 2011 Northern Trust Open tournament, at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA.
The customized Stark EM installation enhanced access control and VIP tracking at the corporate sponsor level at the Northern Trust Open. The new system also allowed the PGA Tour staff and volunteers to track VIP movement from entrance to exit using RFID tags in the tournament badges.
Unlike barcoding, RFID technology automates data capture, with no line-of-sight restrictions, no personnel required to scan badges and no limit on read rates. Each VIP tournament badge is programmed with a unique ID, allowing tournament personnel to track individual VIPs. PGA Tour officials at the 2010 Tour Championship in Atlanta, GA, were impressed by the advantages Stark RFID demonstrated over barcoding. The RFID tags provided automated real-time updates on VIP movement within the venue. Following the tournament, VIP time stamps gave the PGA specific traffic pattern data for upselling and relationship management. Because Stark EM is designed to scale, it will allow the PGA Tour to add functionality.
